I Carry Your Heart -- e.e. cummings

I apologize for not posting more bold thoughts lately. There is a reason -- as I haven't felt so bold. A friend of mine was involved in a horrible accident and is fighting for her life. She is only 33 years old, the mother of two children and a wife. The news that I received last week has shook my foundation to the core -- and makes remember that in our quest for boldness, there will be moments of weakness. To honor my friend, I'd like to share the following poem with you, and want to remind you to reach out to those you love on a regular basis. Let them know you care...

I Carry Your Heart

i carry your heart with me
(i carry it in my heart)
i am never without it
(anywhere i go you go, my dear;
and whatever is done by only me is your doing, my darling)
i fear no fate
(for you are my fate, my sweet)
i want no world
(for beautiful you are my world, my true)
and it's you are
whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you
here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and
the bud of the bud and
the sky of the sky of a tree called life;
which grows higher than the soul can
hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that's keeping
the stars apart i carry your heart
(i carry it in my heart)

- e e cummings

In honor of Laura Schulte - one of my dearest and best friends for 14 years and counting.

A Prayer by Toyohiko Kagawa

I want to be ever a child
I want to feel an eternal friendship
for the raindrops, the flowers,
the insects, the snowflakes.
I want to be keenly interested in everything,
with mind and muscle ever alert,
forgetting my troubles in the next moment.
The stars and the sea, the ponds and the trees,
the birds and the animals, are my comrades.
Though my muscles may stiffen, though my skin may
wrinkle, may I never find myself yawning
at life.

All the Hemispheres by Hafiz the Poet

Leave the familiar for a while.
Let your senses and bodies stretch out
Like a welcomed season
Onto the meadows and shores and hills.
Open up to the Roof.
Make a new water-mark on your excitement
And love.
Like a blooming night flower,
Bestow your vital fragrance of happiness
And giving
Upon our intimate assembly.
Change rooms in your mind for a day.
All the hemispheres in existence
Lie beside an equator
In your heart.
Greet Yourself
In your thousand other forms
As you mount the hidden tide and travel
Back home.
All the hemispheres in heaven
Are sitting around a fire
Chatting
While stitching themselves together
Into the Great Circle inside of You.

Anyway by Mother Teresa - March 5, 2010

People are often unreasonable, illogical and self centered;
Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives;
Be kind anyway.

If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies;
Succeed anyway.

If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you;
Be honest and frank anyway.

What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight;
Build anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous;
Be happy anyway.

The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow;
Do good anyway.

Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough;
Give the world the best you've got anyway.

You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and your God;
It was never between you and them anyway.

Risk by Anais Nin - March 4, 2010

And then the day came,
when the risk
to remain tight
in a bud
was more painful
than the risk
it took
to Blossom.

-Anais Nin

There inevitably comes a day -- a moment -- in which one can't  remain the same...he or she must grow, even if change is scary beyond all belief.

If this is that day for you, we wish you the power to make bold decisions... knowing that you aren't alone.
